Throughout the mid to late 1990's and into the 2000's, inflation went out of control in Zimbabwe. This effectively cased the country to issue larger and larger denomination banknotes, eventually settling on the trillion series of notes minted in 2008.

At one point inflation reached a peak of 6.5 sextillion percent in November of 2008. This caused a complete and utter collapse of the Zimbabwe Dollar.

Zimbabwe officially abandoned their currency in early 2009 and to date does not have an official currency. A law was passed making the US Dollar, Euro, and other currencies in some way the official currency of Zimbabwe. There was talk of bringing back the Zimbabwe Dollar should economic conditions warrant it down the road.

In 2008, millions of 10, 50, and 100 Trillion denomination notes were printed. These notes today officially have no monetary or currency value, but do remain a highly sought after collectible and maintain higher prices today than back when origionally minted in 2008. There is also in monetary terms a very limited amount of these notes printed and they are highly sought after. We currently offer the 100 Trillion note for $34.95, however I have seen them selling on eBay for as high as $99.95 per note.

All Zimbabwe notes sold by us are Uncirculated AA series of notes dated 2008.
